Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech is seeking a Senior Superconducting Circuit Design Engineer to strengthen our hardware R&D; activities in analog quantum computing. This role focuses on the analysis, modeling, and design of superconducting quantum circuits based on circuit quantum electrodynamics (cQED), with particular emphasis on fluxonium-based architectures.
We are open to two complementary senior profiles:
(i) a purely theoretical cQED expert, focused on modeling and understanding superconducting circuits for quantum computing applications, and
(ii) a hybrid profile combining strong theoretical knowledge with experience in numerical simulation of physical circuits.
The exact scope of responsibilities will be adapted to the candidate’s expertise and background.
🫡Key Responsibilities:
Depending on the candidate’s profile, responsibilities may include a subset of the following:
- Develop theoretical models of superconducting quantum circuits within the cQED framework.
- Analyze static and dynamical properties of fluxonium-based and related superconducting circuits.
- Perform analytical and/or numerical simulations to extract relevant circuit parameters and predict device behavior.
- Contribute to the design and optimization of superconducting circuits for quantum computing applications.
- Collaborate closely with measurement, fabrication, and integration teams to ensure consistency between theoretical models and experimental implementations.
- Participate in technical discussions and contribute to internal documentation supporting long-term hardware R&D; strategies.
📝Minimum requirements:
- PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, with a strong focus on superconducting quantum circuits or circuit QED.
- Solid theoretical understanding of superconducting qubits and their electromagnetic environments.
- Proven ability to work at the interface between theory and experimental constraints.
- Strong analytical skills and scientific rigor.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
🤹Preferred Skills:
- Strong experience calibrating and measuring multi-qubit transmon-based quantum processors.
- Experience measuring fluxonium-based superconducting circuits.
- Experience with tunable couplers.
- Familiarity with calibration workflows for digital quantum architectures.
- Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages for experiment control and data analysis.
- Experience with designing and/or fabricating superconducting devices.
- Ability to contribute to mentoring, knowledge transfer, and healthy team dynamics.
💻Additional Information:
The main working location is Barcelona. The role requires a significant onsite presence, with some flexibility for remote work during the week.
