About The Role
Are you ready to strengthen the financial backbone of Diabetes International? The Diabetes business is becoming an independent, publicly traded company focused on innovation, operational excellence, and growth in diabetes care. As a Assistant Controller – South Europe, you will support the Regional Controller in safeguarding the completeness and accuracy of the region’s financial statements, ensuring compliance, and partnering with stakeholders on key accounting and controlling topics. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your leadership capabilities while contributing to the financial integrity of a dynamic, global organization. This position is preferably based in Madrid, Spain, with flexibility for hybrid or remote work. You will report to the Regional Controller and collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams and Financial Shared Services. Occasional travel may be required to support business needs.
Responsibilities
Support the Regional Controller in ensuring the completeness and accuracy of regional financial statements.
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly close deliverables.
Assist with revenue recognition analyses, accrual calculations, and variance explanations for management.
Liaise with Financial Shared Services to resolve accounting issues and enhance end‑to‑end processes.
Contribute to the preparation and coordination of local statutory audits and US GAAP reporting packs.
Generate and deliver financial reports, KPIs, and commentary to finance leadership and operational stakeholders.
Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and standardization, driving a mindset of continuous improvement.
Required Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s or CPA/ACCA certification preferred).
3-5 years of progressive experience in financial reporting and controlling, ideally within a multinational environment.
Solid knowledge of local GAAP and US GAAP; familiarity with IFRS is a plus.
Hands‑on experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, paired with the ability to communicate complex financial topics clearly.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and shared services.
Nice‑to‑Have
Background in process automation (e.g., Power BI, Python, Alteryx).
Exposure to tax compliance or transfer‑pricing topics in an international setting.
