Job Title : Director of the Distributed Artificial Intelligence Research Group
Job Description
A leading international technological foundation is seeking a Director of Research in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to lead its Distributed Artificial Intelligence (DAI) research group and define the organization's global strategy in this key area.
The DAI research group focuses on explainable AI, multimodal perception, and cognitive cloud. It collaborates with eight other research groups within the center to integrate AI into multidisciplinary projects related to 5G / 6G, cybersecurity, IoT, and immersive technologies .
We seek a candidate with a strategic vision, leadership skills, and experience in international collaborative projects to enhance the scientific and technological impact of AI research from Catalonia to Europe.
Main Responsibilities
* Lead the DAI research group and develop the organization's AI strategy.
* Foster collaborations with other research groups to create multidisciplinary technological solutions.
* Represent the institution at forums, events, and strategic meetings on AI.
* Identify research and innovation opportunities, including securing public funding (e.g., Horizon Europe).
* Oversee the development of technological assets (IP, spin-offs, licenses) and promote talent growth.

Requirements
* PhD in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
* At least 3 years of postdoctoral experience in applied AI research.
* Deep knowledge of generative AI and emerging technologies.
* Experience leading technical teams and R&D projects.
* Participation in European projects such as Horizon 2020 / Horizon Europe.
* Ability to write scientific proposals.
* Strong strategic thinking and communication skills.
* Professional English proficiency (minimum C1).
Preferred Qualifications
* Outstanding record of scientific publications.
* Experience leading international consortia.
* Previous leadership roles in major technological initiatives.
