Context and Mission: The Data Visualization and Analytics group at BSC is looking for a data scientist to work across various research lines including Industrial Data Science, Urban Data Science, Data Visualization, Data Storytelling, and Arts+Science Innovation. The role involves data gathering, cleaning, understanding, creating dashboards, initial modeling, and evaluation.
Key Duties:
* Data exploration and preparation
* Engaging with end users and domain experts
* Designing exploratory models and pipelines
* Visualizing and presenting results
* Advising junior researchers and engineers
* Writing reports, deliverables, and research proposals
Requirements:
* Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
* Experience with AI and advanced statistical models in science and industry
* Proficiency in Python for ML and AI
* Ability to conduct independent R&D
Additional Knowledge:
* Fluency in English; Spanish and other European languages are advantageous
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
Conditions: Full-time position at BSC, with flexible hours, training, health insurance, relocation support, and an open-ended contract. Starting as soon as possible, with 23 paid vacation days plus additional holidays.
