The candidate is required for the Environmental Biotechnology research line, particularly in projects related to Soil Health and Remediation, as the Phy2Shine project.The PHY2SHINE (Microbial-Assisted PHYTOremediation for Effective Removal of Persistent Organic Pollutants:
SHeddINg light on the synergistic Effect of Soil-Plant Microbial Biosystems) project focuses on
improving microbial-assisted phytoremediation to address Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) such as HCH-isomers and certain PAHs like benzo[a]pyrene and pyrene.
These pollutants are toxic, slow to degrade, and accumulate in the environment, posing risks to ecosystems and human health. The project explores how plant-microbe interactions—especially using
Miscanthus sp.
, a promising non-food crop can enhance pollutant degradation and soil health. PHY2SHINE aim to use advanced tools including multi-omics to understand the soil-microbiome-plant interaction to increase the pollutant biodegradation but also to understand the enhancement of soil.Other projects related to Phy2shine within the Horizon Europe research programme:

A background in Biotechnology, Biology, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, or related fields is required. We are looking for ambitious researcher with the following expertise:
Expert in Rhizosphere Systems.Expert in Soil Microbiome.Expert in Soil-Plant Microbiome interaction.Knowledge in Computational Biology, bioinformatic, metabolic modelling.Knowledge in plant physiology.Good level of English.4. What we offer:
The selected candidate will join the ICCRAM-EST group to actively participate in the PHY2SHINE project and other ongoing research lines working at international level with other institutions.Collaborative, multidisciplinary and international work environment.Access to cutting-edge technology necessary to perform the research.5.
