EHS Engineer provides environmental, health, and safety leadership to the site. Accountable for supporting EHS activities at their location(s), including setting EHS objectives and targets, internal reporting of EHS performance, and ensuring documents are available in local languages.
What will you do
1. Manage the site in achieving EHS targets and objectives. Develop, maintain, and achieve goals supporting corporate and division EHS strategic initiatives.
2. Facilitate risk assessments at the location to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects. Work with leadership to create targets based on key EHS risks.
3. Determine appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track performance against targets and objectives.
4. Support the creation of EHS goals for the site manager and activity-based goals for leadership, functional managers, and supervisors to foster EHS culture, compliance, and results.
5. Assign EHS element champions and facilitate their engagement in owning the EHS elements.
6. Promote a zero-incident EHS culture throughout the site.
7. Create and facilitate EHS engagement through teams and committees to achieve established targets and objectives.
8. Work with leadership and EHS champions to conduct annual compliance evaluations for regulations at all levels.
9. Pursue third-party recognition for programs that establish the site and Tenneco’s EHS program as world-class.
10. Use established EHS data processes, such as AEGIS, to manage data on injuries, illnesses, environmental metrics, and other pertinent information.
11. Create training matrices to ensure all training is defined and completed.
12. Collaborate with site leadership and facilities to ensure operational controls are in place, maintained, and EHS action items are resolved timely.
What can make you successful
* Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, or equivalent.
* 5+ years of experience in health and safety program management and employee training in an industrial environment.
* Understanding of industry, state, and country EHS requirements.
* Strong team-building and organizational skills.
* Adept at using company-wide systems for EHS data reporting.
* Demonstrate managerial courage, managing conflicts effectively.
* Ability to lead and support cross-functional EHS teams.
