The legal team is an internal service provider that supports Sportradar's fast growth by ensuring a solid and secure foundation. It includes several divisions to ensure integrity and trust are met and exceeded, including Corporate & Employment Law, Privacy, Litigation, Content Operations, Compliance & Risk, Commercial Sales Legal and Sports Partnership Legal.
The Legal Counsel, IP Protection will be working closely with and as part of an experienced and international legal team as well as Sportradar’s energetic Rights & Revenue Protection team. This role, whilst based in Seville, Spain will require relatively frequent travel across various regional hubs for internal and external meetings.
**THE CHALLENGE**:
- Drafting, negotiating, administering and supervising through to resolution, evidence capture, legal letters and dispute resolution for instances of identified IP infringement
- Elaborate, research and provide legal opinions, particularly relating to IP law and the regulatory framework related to the same
- Providing general legal advice to operational/commercial/engineering teams of Sportradar
- Administrative and other project tasks within the areas of enforcement approaches, understanding and deploying detection technologies, tracking regulatory authorities by market and more
- Constant coordination with other internal stakeholders/corporate units (commercial, product, content operations, sports rights partnerships etc ) as well as external engagement
**YOUR PROFILE**:
- IP Protection lawyer with 3+ years of relevant corporate experience (preferred) or in a law firm
- Demonstrated knowledge of IP law and expertise in copyright law
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in Spanish and any other language is beneficial, but not required
- Versátil to adapt to changing priorities and able to work to tight deadlines
- Ability to identify and adapt to country-specific regulatory frameworks
- A strong understanding of the sports and, ideally, the sports betting, ecosystem including the political, legislative and economic landscape.
- An understanding in relation to data and audio-visual content and how such content is both commercialised and pirated would be desirable
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to work autonomously using sound judgment to make difficult business decisions when necessary
- Strong relationship management and collaboration skills
