With a strong academic foundation and a reputation for analytical rigour, the team combines advanced quantitative methods with clear, practical advice. Due to continued growth in competition and antitrust matters, they are seeking to appoint a Senior Competition Economist.
RoleYou will lead complex competition engagements, manage senior client relationships, and oversee teams delivering economic analysis in high-stakes contentious and investigatory settings.
The role involves shaping analytical strategy, directing project execution, and ensuring delivery against demanding client objectives across international matters.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a portfolio of competition-focused engagements, overseeing delivery across multiple matters
Direct and support project teams in conducting rigorous economic and quantitative analysis
Shape analytical strategy and ensure high-quality outputs, including clear and well-structured written reports
Take ownership of senior client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser throughout the lifecycle of engagements
Contribute to the development of innovative approaches to complex economic questions
Present proposals and analytical findings to prospective and existing clients
Support effective project planning, resourcing and delivery against commercial objectives
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior economists, maintaining high analytical standards
Ensure appropriate governance and internal reporting processes are maintained
Key Skills
PhD in Economics required, with expertise in competition, industrial organisation or related disciplines
Experience within economic consulting, regulatory or competition-focused advisory environments
Strong quantitative and econometric capability, with proficiency in tools such as Python, R, Stata or equivalent
Comfortable working with complex and large-scale datasets
Proven ability to manage engagements and deliver high-quality outputs under tight timelines
Clear and persuasive communication skills, able to distil complex analysis for varied audiences
High professional integrity, intellectual curiosity and sound judgement
Interest in mentoring colleagues and contributing to a collaborative environment
Proactive approach to relationship-building and broader business development activity
