Are you experienced in Critical Infrastructure Commissioning and looking for a fast‑paced environment to work in? As a Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE), you will join a highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling challenging problems building and supporting the operations of Amazon‑owned data centers. The Amazon Commissioning team (ACx) evaluates, defines, and manages construction quality in accordance with engineering designs to meet customer requirements.

Key Job Responsibilities
As the Commissioning Engineer (CxE), you will provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data‑center electrical and mechanical infrastructure. This includes reviewing design documents and equipment submittals, leading Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and managing third‑party commissioning vendors in onsite functional testing. You will own project successes, resolve technical issues, address schedule impacts, and lead lessons learned for program improvement.
During commissioning, you will audit vendor activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements. You will produce regular commissioning reports and manage project budgets as approved by Finance.
A Day in the Life
You will coordinate site activities with AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams. The CxE manages the commissioning vendor, executes functional tests, identifies issues, determines criticality, proposes solutions, and documents findings. If a project is at risk, you will elevate the issue to stakeholders. Upon completion, you will communicate lessons learned and participate in initiatives that drive improvement to the commissioning program.
About the Team
The AWS Data Center Commissioning Team (ACx) is a wholly independent business within the DCGS organization. The team of veteran Electrical, Mechanical, Controls Engineers, Project Managers, and Operators provides detailed engineering and operational review and testing of equipment designs, operational functionality, and construction practices.

Basic Qualifications
* 3+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or 3 years of relevant discipline work experience
* 1+ years of field‑level project support/execution
Preferred Qualifications
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); advanced project‑management tools (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Projects, Primavera, SharePoint)
* Effective communication skills, detail oriented, highly organized, and able to work in high‑stress environments while maintaining calm and respectful interaction with multiple teams
* Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures
* Ability to read and edit construction documents (design drawings, control diagrams, specifications, etc.)
* Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems/components based on design intent and approved equipment submittals

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $86,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
