About BSCThe Barcelona Supercomputing Center – Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC‐CNS) is the leading supercomputing centre in Spain. It hosts MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and is a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE and the current host entity for EuroHPC JU. BSC combines HPC service provision with R&D in computer and computational science across life, earth and engineering sciences, with over 1,000 staff from 60 countries.
Context and MissionWithin the R+D+I Networks Programme (AGAUR), BSC coordinates X4HPC, the Network for the Transfer of High‐Performance Computing Technologies to Society. X4HPC aims to valorise and transfer research results in supercomputing across Catalonia, focusing on sectors such as energy, biomedicine, aerospace, and quantum computing, and prioritising open‐source solutions for innovation and social impact. Reporting to the BSC Technology Transfer Manager, the Business Developer will facilitate the exploitation of X4HPC project results by transferring knowledge and technology to the market.
Key Duties
Business Development: Execute and monitor the business development and internationalisation work plan and milestones of X4HPC.
Ecosystem Engagement: Maintain contact with the European, Spanish and Catalan innovation and business development ecosystems.
Training & Capacity Building: Organise training for researchers on business development, property rights (IPR), commercialisation strategies, licensing and spin‐off creation skills.
Carry out the business development tasks described in the X4HPC (2025 XARDI 00012) Technology Transfer Project, including managing X4HPC network contacts and generating business development leads.
Identify research results from the 12 research institutions and provide a portfolio of technologies.
Attend and organise meetings and teleconferences with project committees to follow project development.
Write and contribute to project deliverables and participate in identifying, selecting and developing valorisation projects within the network.
Requirements
Education
Business‐related background
Engineering or Science degree with demonstrated knowledge in innovation management
Specialised courses in business development, innovation or exploitation of research results
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
Professional experience in business development and internationalisation of research results
Experience in innovation management
Understanding of the HPC ecosystem, AI and deep‐tech frameworks
Experience in deep‐tech, innovation and entrepreneurship within Catalan ecosystems
Experience with the Catalan and European innovation ecosystems (start‐ups, clusters, venture capital)
Competences
Fluency in Spanish, Catalan and English (essential)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to take initiative, prioritise and work under deadlines and pressure
Willingness to travel
Conditions
Location: BSC within the Directors Department
Contract: Full‐time (37.5 h/week) with a highly stimulating environment, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance and relocation support
Duration: Open‐ended contract linked to the project and budget duration
Holidays: 22 days + 6 personal days + Christmas holidays as per collective agreement
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications, experience and cost of living in Barcelona

The selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system ("Concurso‐Oposición"). The process consists of two phases:
Curriculum Analysis: Evaluation of experience, degree, training and other professional information (40 % of the score).
Interview Phase: Highest‐rated candidates are invited to an interview conducted by the department and Human Resources, focusing on technical competencies, skills and personal qualities (60 % of the score). A minimum of 30 points out of 60 must be achieved to be eligible.
The recruitment panel comprises at least three people with at least 25 % representation of women. The process includes technical and administrative interviews, a personality questionnaire and a technical exercise.
