Role Overview
As QC & AST Chemical Head, you will manage the QC & AST Chemical Lab on the Palafolls site, ensuring all work meets the requirements of the Sandoz Quality Manual and is compliant with GMP and GLP regulations. You will lead the lab team, ensuring their safety and fostering their development, while managing the department’s budget.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
* Manage the QC & AST Chemical lab of Palafolls site.
* Guarantee that the work in the QC & AST lab is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Sandoz Quality Manual and complying with GMP and GLP regulations.
* Coordinate the work teams in the QC & AST lab based on the planning and needs of the site.
* Guarantee in a controlled way the level of service of the site, ensuring the agreed KPIs and attend to site emergencies.
* Ensure safety of laboratory staff and propose improvements to avoid accidents.
* Manage and control the budget of the whole department.
* Guarantee correct compliance with GLP, GMP and documentation in the analytical tests performed.
* Guarantee correct calibration/verification, qualification and maintenance of all laboratory equipment and proper management of instrument documentation according to Sandoz guidelines.
* Guarantee correct management of reagents, solutions and standards (reference std., working std., primary standards).
* Ensure correct performance of OOS/OOE/OOT investigations and deviations that occur in the lab, meeting deadlines and defining robust CAPAs to avoid repeat incidents.
* Ensure compliance with lab documentation, approving SOPs that describe activities, ensuring training compliance and keeping documents updated.
* Ensure that all analytical tests were carried out in accordance with current procedures and validated methods.
* Identify problems, needs and areas for improvement; design, develop and implement projects that improve quality, safety and performance of the analytic process.
* Find and lead savings and efficiency projects in the labs (LabOpex, Greenlab).
* Ensure a development plan for direct reports that encourages and promotes their evolution and development in the workplace, creating a motivating environment that promotes dedication and professional excellence.
* Maintain a defined succession plan.
* Evaluate and implement new technology and equipment.
* Represent the site with Global QC & AST Chemical Lab.
* Member of the SQLT team.
* Collaborate with other departments, establishing good internal and external communication.
What You Need To Bring To The Role
* Scientific university degree (e.g., Chemist, Pharmacist or related field).
* Fluent in English and Spanish.
* At least 2 years’ experience in an industry laboratory, preferably in an FDA-regulated environment and knowledge of EU and U.S. regulations (GMP, ICH, Pharmacopoeia).
* Team leadership experience.
* Ability to organize and plan.
