The University of Oviedo is seeking motivated candidates to join the
ARENA Research Group, a multidisciplinary team focused on marine and fisheries sciences.
We are recruiting full‑time pre‑doctoral researchers to join a research line devoted to the application of genomic tools to investigate the resilience of diadromous fishery species under integral change. This position is on‑site at the University of Oviedo (Oviedo, Spain).
The selected candidate will support ongoing research projects, conduct data analysis, collaborate with faculty and research teams, and contribute to the preparation of reports, publications, and scientific presentations. The role may also involve assisting with the management of project‑related agreements and administrative tasks.
The initial contract will have an approximate duration of one year, with the possibility of extension for a second year, depending on the development of an additional project within the same research line.

Qualifications
Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Genetics, Bioinformatics, etc.); previous research experience is highly valued
Good understanding of molecular ecology, population genetics, and evolutionary biology, with willingness to apply these concepts in genomic analyses
Experience in molecular laboratory techniques (e.g., DNA extraction, library preparation) is desirable
Familiarity with bioinformatics, including command‑line environments and analysis tools in
R
or
Python
Strong analytical and statistical skills
Interest in pursuing a doctoral program and willingness to engage actively in academic activities
