The Category Management and Strategic Sourcing Manager-PV and Major Equipment is accountable for the savings in the assigned spend category (PV and major equipment) and is responsible for developing and executing category strategies and sourcing decisions that optimize cost, quality, risk and supplier performance across Europe, Central and South America.
This role leads end-to-end strategic sourcing initiatives and procurement processes including market analysis, category strategy, RFQ/RFP issuance, bid evaluation, negotiations and contract award.
The role manages key supplier relationships, and partners closely with internal stakeholders including business development, engineering, construction, operations and procurement operations to ensure procurement drives measurable value for the business.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy Development
Analyze category spend, market dynamics, and internal demand to build multi-year category strategies.
Regularly monitor global supply markets, cost drivers and emerging trends to identify suppliers who can provide the required equipment understanding changes in local regulation in each of the countries for which the category manager is assigned.
Maintain deep knowledge of the global supplier landscape and benchmarking data for the PV and Major Equipment category.
Assess risks (supply, geopolitical, quality, ESG, commercial) and develop mitigation plans.
Build business cases and obtain stakeholder alignment for the category strategy.
Strategic Sourcing & Contracting
Lead full lifecycle sourcing projects, including RFI/RFP, negotiations, evaluation, supplier selection, and award
Develop, negotiate, implement, and manage multi-year, multi-region supplies framework agreements and contracts to address future demand profile of PV and Major Equipment.
Develop negotiation strategies and execute commercial, technical and contractual negotiations, garnering the necessary input from stakeholders in the business including business development, engineering, construction, legal, finance
Draft and manage commercial terms in collaboration with legal, finance and technical teams Propose and implement year over year cost-saving initiatives, contractual improvements, and risk mitigation measures in categories under management
Deliver measurable savings and value outcomes aligned with procurement KPI.
Supplier Relationship Management
Establish and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers
Conduct performance reviews, quarterly business reviews and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Implement supplier governance frameworks, KPIs, SLAs and risk monitoring
Address performance issues, escalate risks, and lead corrective action plans
Procurement Operations
Work collaboratively with Procurement Operations to develop local demand profiles and understand key local
requirements and regulations for PV and Major Equipment.
Support procurement operations to ensure all equipment are delivered on time and to required quality to support existing operations and new projects in the country
Seek feedback on supplier past performance from Procurement Operations
Ensure that Procurement Operations implements the contract locally, raises POs under the contract and enforces the pricing & terms agreed in the framework agreement / category strategy
Compliance & Best Practice
Ensure adherence to internal procurement policies, regulatory requirements, and sustainability goals.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate procurement data across company systems.
Education and Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Experience and Technical Skills
7+ years of procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing experience.
Proven track record in contract negotiation, supplier management, and procurement of complex equipment/services in an international environment.
Experience working in a matrixed environment with cross-functional teams located in multiple geographies.
Industry experience is an advantage depending on category scope - including renewable energy technologies, including
Solar PV, BESS, wind and natural gas.
