About The Ocean Race
For nearly five decades, The Ocean Race has been the ultimate test of teamwork, endurance, and oceanic exploration. Today, it stands as a global leader in sustainability, using the power of sport to drive awareness and action for ocean health. Our mission is to inspire and engage worldwide audiences through impactful storytelling, cutting-edge media, and innovative digital experiences.
As we prepare for The Ocean Race Atlantic 2026 and the iconic The Ocean Race 2027 round-the-world event, we continue to grow our global audience through high-quality storytelling, media engagement, and impactful communications. Through bold digital content and platform-native storytelling, we engage millions of fans worldwide. For our upcoming campaign, we’re seeking a talented and energetic On-the-Road Content Creator to help bring the excitement, the teams, and the ocean conservation mission to life across all digital platforms.
Your Mission
As our On-the-Road Social Media Content Creator, you will manage the daily output and execution of our short-form video channels, working in direct conjunction with the Digital Content and Communications Manager. Embedded with the race – on the ground, behind the scenes, and in the middle of the action – you will turn dockside energy, host city culture, and high‑adrenaline racing into fast, scroll‑stopping content across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube Shorts.
While you will be the main driver of content on the move, you will not be operating in a silo. You will work together with the Digital Content and Communications Manager to align on content, strategy, and messaging, reporting back daily to ensure a unified and powerful digital presence across all platforms.
What You'll Be Doing
* Channel Management & Co-Ownership: Execute and manage social media content strategy and output hand-in-hand with the Communications & Marketing Manager.
* Strategic Alignment: Report back daily to the Manager to review overall performance, pitch real‑time ideas, and adapt the daily posting schedule to live race developments and viral trends.
* Pre‑Race (Alicante): Collaborate on content planning, editorial calendars, and the development of the live race coverage strategy.
* During the Race (Host Cities): Capture, edit, and post real‑time short‑form video content on the ground, featuring sailors, teams, fan zones, and local partner activations.
* During the Race (Race HQ): Transition back to Race Headquarters in Alicante during longer offshore legs to support the wider digital team with scheduling, monitoring, and offshore race coverage.
* Platform Optimisation: Publish high‑frequency, optimised videos daily (Reels, TikTok, Shorts) and react quickly to viral trends and live race developments.
* Media Coordination: Work cross‑functionally with on‑ground teams to ensure smooth media access to behind‑the‑scenes and sailor content capturing.
* Publishing Support: Assist with content scheduling, captioning, and copywriting in English.
* Event Contribution: Assist colleagues in the wider production and success of the event while actively contributing to sustainability initiatives reflecting our commitment to ocean conservation.
Impact of the Role
* Bring the raw emotion, speed, and story of The Ocean Race Atlantic 2026 and The Ocean Race 2027 directly to fans in real‑time.
* Drive significant audience growth and community engagement through highly shareable, platform‑native formats.
* Shape how the world experiences sailing and ocean advocacy through a modern, digital‑first lens.
What We Offer
* A front‑row seat to one of the world’s most iconic and purpose‑driven sailing events.
* A unique chance to help shape how the world experiences sailing and ocean advocacy.
* The exciting opportunity to travel around the world.
* A fast‑paced, creative, and collaborative international work environment that genuinely encourages innovation and excellence.
What We're Looking For
* Proven Track Record: A minimum of 3 years of professional experience managing and creating content for high‑profile brands or sports events.
* Flexible and Adaptable: You have some experience in events. You understand the unpredictable nature, tight deadlines, and high‑pressure environment of live sports production.
* Collaborative Executer: Someone who thrives in a team dynamic; you know how to take creative direction from digital management and translate it into high‑impact social media assets on the road.
* Technical Sharpness: A strong portfolio of vertical video. You are fast and self‑sufficient at filming and editing on mobile or compact gear using tools like CapCut, Premiere, Lightroom, Photoshop, or Canva.
Requirements
* Fluency in English (French is a strong advantage; Spanish, German, or Italian are a plus).
* Ability to be based in Alicante in August, with full availability to travel internationally.
* Ability to be available in the 2 periods of the contract.
* EU national status or the ability to obtain the necessary EU working permits.
* Alignment with The Ocean Race values: Care, Trust & Excellence.
* Must have some prior event experience in capturing and editing real‑time content on‑site.
* Ability to communicate comfortably and be proactive when interacting with sailors and corporate stakeholders to coordinate content.
Our Commitment
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive environment. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and will ensure an accessible recruitment process for all candidates.
