Position Title: CIT Apps & Monitoring Technical Lead
Department: Corporate IT
Effective: Immediately
Reports to: Head of Corporate IT Infrastructure and Application Support
Location: Spain
Role Overview
We are seeking a senior Applications & Monitoring Technical Lead to take ownership of how the Corporate IT application estate is operated, observed and controlled in production.
This is a hands‐on technical authority role focused on observability, lifecycle governance and operational readiness across business‐critical application services. The successful candidate will define and enforce the standards that ensure applications are measurable, supportable and predictable in live operation.
This role is accountable for protecting the operational integrity of the application estate, including the authority to challenge or reject services that do not meet defined readiness and observability standards.
IT Solutions retains accountability for application design and delivery. This role ensures those services are operationally sound, observable and sustainable in live service.
Key responsibilities include:
Domain Technical Authority:
Own and enforce operational standards for application monitoring, alerting and supportability
Define and enforce what "good" looks like for application operability, lifecycle control and service visibility
Provide operational technical sign-off that monitoring, logging and support controls are in place prior to BAU acceptance
Challenge and reject application services that do not meet defined operational readiness criteria
Observability and Signal Quality:
Reduce alert noise and false positives through disciplined threshold and rule management
Improve signal clarity to enable faster triage and root cause identification
Ensure every monitored application service has clear ownership and escalation pathways
Embed monitoring and logging as mandatory components of operational readiness
Stability and Incident Reduction:
Reduce repeat application incidents through improved early detection and structured root cause discipline
Own the operational stability of the application estate, improving reliability and predictability in live service
Improve predictability of application changes through stronger readiness criteria
Define and maintain the application operations technical roadmap
Drive measurable improvement in mean time to detect and mean time to restore
Lifecycle and Compatibility Governance:
Define and enforce application lifecycle management standards, including structured version control and upgrade governance
Ensure client and server version compatibility requirements are documented, validated and communicated
Prevent uncontrolled version drift across application components
Require compatibility validation as part of change and release processes
Security and Operational Control:
Ensure application monitoring aligns with agreed security, access control and audit standards
Validate that logging and audit trails support both operational and security visibility
Work closely with Information Security to ensure observability supports risk management
Capability and Technical Bar Raising:
Be the recognised technical authority for application operability and observability
Provide structured technical challenge and peer review
Raise diagnostic discipline and technical depth within the application support function
Work in partnership with line managers and IT Solutions to ensure clean handover from design to operate
What we're looking for
Significant hands‐on experience operating and supporting business‐critical applications
Strong background in monitoring, observability and alerting tooling

Experience acting as a domain technical authority in production environments
Confidence to challenge and enforce operational standards constructively
Calm, structured judgement in live operational scenario
Technical Knowledge
Deep technical expertise across:
Application monitoring and alerting platforms
Log aggregation and analysis tooling
Performance monitoring and diagnostic tooling
Version control and release governance principles
Alert threshold tuning and signal optimisation practices
Incident triage and structured root cause analysis techniques
Access control and audit logging principles

Formal training or certification in monitoring or observability tooling
ITIL 4 Foundation or higher
Structured training in application performance management
Formal accreditation in logging, monitoring or operational analytics platforms
Equivalent practical experience will be considered in place of formal certification.
Personal Attributes
