Reuters is looking for a Senior Graphics Editor to create clear and compelling visual stories in the EMEA region. You will be part of a global team of graphics journalists – designers, developers, illustrators, cartographers and editors – covering a wide range of general interest news for media clients and consumer audiences. The position is preferably based in one of our Spanish newsrooms in either Barcelona or Madrid.
About The Role
Pitch and work on data‐rich and visually compelling stories, especially related to topline news in the EMEA region.
Work closely with the Reuters newsroom, editors and other graphics journalists worldwide.
Contribute to a broad range of projects, from quick‐turn breaking news to deeply reported enterprise.
Bring your particular technical skills to the fore while collaborating closely with other members of the graphics team in their specialties.
Be a kind and thoughtful colleague who contributes positively to team culture and initiatives.
About You
Have a clear track record of pitching, reporting, designing and publishing unique pieces of visual journalism.
Are comfortable working to a deadline and can accurately communicate your own workflow to other stakeholders.
Show keen news judgment and can easily articulate what makes not just an important story, but a great graphics one.
Can clearly outline complex graphics ideas in early stages of reporting and connect them to the wider narrative in a story.
Are fluent with production tools you've used to build original graphics for the web. Examples might include Javascript or any web development framework, Adobe Illustrator, Blender or something else.
Understand basic information design principles and can back that up with your own crisp, clear graphics.
Are adept at finding the original data and source material that makes great graphics.

Ability with Adobe Illustrator or other illustration software
Front‐end web development skills
Cartography using GIS software
Advanced data analysis
Any other specialised skills you've used to build great graphics.
