Reporting to the General Manager and aligned with the Group Health & Safety Director, you'll coordinate HSE programs, support corporate compliance and sustainability goals, and liaise with authorities as needed. You'll guide global HSE strategy, lead the Food HSE Group, and oversee performance improvement efforts. This role includes indirect alignment with regional HSE leaders worldwide.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify, recommend, and implement overall strategic direction, planning and organization of ALS Food Business HSE prioritiesCoordinate and communicate ALS and Food HSE Compliance and Sustainability responsibilities between the global HSE Food resourcesSupport the Food Business when dealing with governmental regulatory entities as neededReview and report on Global HSE performance monthlyDevelop and support best practice principles to improve consistency with global HSE programs and toolsAssess, interpret, and implement all requirements of the HSE Management System and regulations in all ALS Food business locationsEnsure compliance with all environmental regulatory needsEnforce ALS and Food HSE standards, identify, and monitor corrective actions to ensure complianceSupport an HSE culture of reporting, review and continual improvement through corrective actionsLead the Global Food team to develop and support corporate initiatives and programsFocus on Injury Management, monitor and support incidents within the business and investigations aligned with country and ALS Policy and StandardsDevelop programs to reduce high risk elements through Life Saving Rules and review of incident trendsReview and report on PPI program metrics and globally support complianceManage and participate in global HSE auditsManage and maintain global HSE risk identification, program controls, and monitoring programsEngage in Sustainability activities related to corporate objectives and their adaptation to the Food BusinessEnsure appropriate mandatory training (Induction, specialty roles, refresher)Observe established HSE regulations, best practices, and comply with all ALS Group Health and Safety standards, policies, procedures, and toolsMaintain compliance with ALS Loss Control requirementsAssess Food operations physical security requirements to protect assetsAssess medical, security, and safety travel, make recommendations to minimize risk for global Food operationsLead Food field and vehicle safety program requirementsImplement, test and improve the HSE aspects associated with site emergency response and business continuity programsOther duties as assignedAbout youMaintains a level of expertise in health, safety and environmentStrong interpersonal skillsStrong communication and presentation skillsAbility to handle confidential informationStrong organizational skills and follow-throughPositive and professional imagePossess tact and communication skills to work effectively with agencies and governmentDemonstrated judgement, creativity, integrity and ability to problem solveAbility to communicate in English both written and verbalRequired QualificationsCompletion of university degree, College level or Institutional Occupational Health and Safety Program or equivalent is desiredMinimum of 5 years of progressively increasing responsibility for Health and Safety outcomes and program conception/implementationMinimum of 3-years management experienceMultilingual preferred (Spanish, Portuguese), however business operations are primarily conducted in EnglishPhysical DemandsAbility to travel up to 30% of time when requiredManual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks.Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE), when required.Ability to stand for a full shift.Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities.Ability to communicate via telephone and email without assistance.Working at ALSThe ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.
