Offer Description
Mission:
Develop and optimize thermo-sensitive hydrogels with biopolymers for water purification and energy generation, including the synthesis, characterization and evaluation of their performance in applied processes.
Functions to be developed:
* Synthesize and characterize thermosensitive hydrogels combined with biopolymers and photothermal materials.
* Evaluate the performance of hydrogels in water purification and energy generation applications, including laboratory trials and pilot tests.
* Optimize the properties of hydrogels (optical, mechanical and functional) according to the requirements of the applied processes.
* Analyzing experimental data, interpreting results and preparing reports and scientific publications.
* Collaborate in the planning and management of research projects, including experimental design and coordination with other team members.
* Materials characterization techniques: Raman, FTIR, SEM, UV-VIS as well as other conventional methods.
* Solar water desalination applications: to develop, adjust and implement hydrogel systems.
* Evaluation of solar evaporation systems with hydrogels: controlled indoor tests, outdoor trials, long-term durability studies and analysis of the quality of the recovered water.
Other requirements to consider:
* Ability to work autonomously and in a multidisciplinary team.
* Interest in publishing scientific results and participating in the dissemination of research.
* Availability for possible national or international travel related to projects, collaborations or scientific conferences.
Specific Requirements
Knowledge:
* Chemical engineering.
* Polymer and biopolymer engineering.
* Photothermal compounds and biopolymers in hydrogel networks to modify and improve their functional, optical and mechanical properties.
* Preparation, planning and management of research and development projects.
Professional Experience:
* In university research laboratories, acquiring experience in synthesis, processing and characterization of polymeric materials and thermosensitive hydrogels.
* Having worked with hydrogels modified with biopolymers and photothermal materials, evaluating their properties and performance in water purification applications.
* Planning and execution of experiments, analysis of results and preparation of scientific reports and presentations.
* Experience in functions similar to those described will be valued, specifically in the development of research activities, both in the university and industrial environment.

Additional Information
Eligibility criteria
All the candidates who cannot prove the required academic degree will be immediately withdrawn from the selection process.
The CVs will be assessed according the following general criteria:
* The maximum score for the candidates who accomplish all the eligibility criteria stated in the job offer will be 10 points.
* Threshold: 5 points.
* The maximum score (10 points) will be distributed as follows:
* 1 point for required speciality.
* 2 points for required academic training.
* 2 points for technic competences.
* 1 point for organisational competences.
* 3 points for professional experience.
* 1 point for any aspect of the candidate’s professional profile to be determined as specially relevant by the Selection committee.
If the selection committee decide to include a personal interview as additional step of the selection process, only the candidates scored 5 or above for their CV will be retained for the interview step.
The interview will be assessed according the following criteria:
* Threshold: 3 points.
* The maximum score will be distributed according the following criteria:
* 2 points for adequacy to functional competences of the job.
* 2 points for adequacy of professional experience.
* 1 point for any aspect of the candidate’s professional profile to be determined as especially relevant by the Selection committee.
The eligible candidates will be ranked from highest to lowest score, being this the selection criteria.
Selection process
