Position Overview
Temporary Lecturer in Political Science to teach undergraduate courses such as Introduction to American Government and Institutions, and other political science classes as assigned.
Responsibilities
Prepare, deliver, conduct, and proctor lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and exams.
Meet all scheduled class sessions in the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
Adhere to university and system‑wide policies per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2.
Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, within the CSU salary range for Class Code 2358. For lecturers with a master’s degree, the monthly range is $5,507–$6,677 for 15 WTUs.
Appointment Information
Appointments are contingent upon budget, enrollment, and collective bargaining agreements. Faculty are appointed to the temporary pool and may need to start teaching on short notice. The pool remains available for two terms; re‑application is required thereafter.
Anticipated Semester
Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026
Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Political Science (or related field) with emphasis in American Politics.
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with a diverse community.
Teaching experience in American Government or related college courses at the collegiate level.
Preferred Qualifications
Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level.
Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
Experience teaching American Government at the collegiate level in California.
Ph.D. in Political Science (preferred).
