Die Position
Job Overview
The Lead of HARD Services leads all engineering, maintenance, and technical operations for the Roche Sant Cugat site. The role ensures safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient operation of all building systems, critical utilities, and infrastructure.
You will manage the Engineering & Hard FM team, own the Facilities OPEX and CAPEX budgets, and ensure the delivery of high-quality services through a strong IFM governance model.
A key aspect of the role is the ability to provide operational direction while maintaining technical depth, adapting communication to diverse audiences (“zoom in & out”), and navigating a complex general–local matrix through strong stakeholder management.
- Lead all HARD Services operations, covering maintenance, utilities, building systems, engineering support, and infrastructure reliability, ensuring full compliance with Roche standards, local regulations, and Quality/SHE requirements.
- Drive Life Cycle Asset Management, ensuring critical assets are properly identified, maintained, renewed, and optimized through risk-based lifecycle planning.
- Own the HARD Services OPEX and CAPEX budgets, ensuring rigorous planning, forecasting, and financial stewardship.
- Define and monitor KPIs — including asset reliability, IFM performance, project delivery, energy usage, and compliance — ensuring results are achieved. When performance gaps occur, lead corrective actions, ensure structured follow-up, address supplier performance, and escalate when required.
- Lead IFM governance, ensuring strong SLA/KPI management, risk escalation, continuous improvement, and supplier performance that drives reliability, service quality, and cost efficiency.
- Oversee the portfolio of capital investment, infrastructure, and engineering projects from concept to execution, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, budget, and compliance. Establish clear project governance, including risk assessments, documentation, commissioning, and structured handover. Act as project sponsor or project lead depending on project complexity.
- Partner closely with Procurement, SHE, Quality, IT, Supply Chain, Global FM, and Global Engineering to ensure alignment with Roche standards and global/local strategies. Support audits, inspections, integral reviews, and technical assessments, representing the site with a strong technical and operational perspective.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships across local and global networks, ensuring Sant Cugat's needs are represented and benefiting from best practice sharing and knowledge exchange.
- Communicate complex technical matters clearly and adapt messaging to different audiences, ensuring clarity for senior leaders, experts, IFM providers, and operators. Maintain proactive communication during incidents, projects, and critical events.
- Drive sustainability through energy efficiency, carbon reduction initiatives, and responsible asset management. Promote digitalization, smart-building technologies, and data-driven decision-making across operations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Engineering & FM team, ensuring clear roles, expectations, and talent growth while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Who You Are
- A people leader who balances technical depth with strategic thinking.
- Experienced in managing complex stakeholder environments and influencing without authority.
- Skilled at “zooming in” to understand technical details and “zooming out” to articulate strategy.
- Results-oriented, structured, and comfortable in a regulated, dynamic environment.
- Confident managing large budgets, complex infrastructure, and interdisciplinary teams.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or similar.
- 5–7 years of experience in Engineering, Facilities Management, or Project Management.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and HARD Services operations.
- Strong expertise in project management (CAPEX, infrastructure, engineering projects).
- Experience with IFM models, supplier governance, and KPI-driven performance management.
- Strong stakeholder management capacity, ideally in a global/local matrix organization.
- Solid understanding of asset management frameworks (e.g., LCAM).
- Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Strong digital orientation (CAFM/CMMS, BMS/EMS, data analytics, smart building tools).
