As part of the EU & Africa JIT-Assembly and Structures AME team, this role is responsible for financial and technical planning, supplier selection and implementation of AME equipment with emphasis on end-of-Line tester and testing processes in the EU⁡ plants. While the focus is on the innovation and initial pilot plants, provision must also be made for implementation across EU&AF.; Later the EU⁡ roll-out needs to be planned, implemented and reported.
The role involves leading mainly all AME activities around test equipment and test-automation, including benchmarking hardware and software, identifying best practices, defining Lear standards for EU & Africa, leading the development of new processes/automation, technically interfacing with suppliers, creating specifications and communicating with the plants and other central functions, and identifying new technologies that can be used. The role will also include involve engagement with the integral US-team.
As a member of the EU⁡ AME team, working with all stakeholders in the identification, creation and deployment of test-equipment and process standards and hardware standards definition.
**Key Tasks**:
- Work together with Plant Industrial Engineering, Suppliers, Customers and IT teams to ensure development and implementation of equipment and processes.
- Define all equipment and process standards together with LEAR central teams for Lear JIT & Structures going forward, prioritizing the opportunities with the largest benefit to Lear first.
- Communicate AME standards to the plants and provide a single source location for accessing latest standards.
- Supplier development - work with Purchasing to develop relevant key suppliers and development centres.
- Working together with other departments such as EHS and local plant support team.
- Benchmarking of solutions concerning process reliability and costs
- Identification of innovations and pilot projects
- Identifying and developing of machine learning and artificial intelligence opportunities
- For project execution, manage directly and indirectly to:
- Ensure that there is an operational need
- Ensure all AME Standards are adhered to.
- Project timing is adhered to and suppliers are managed proactively.
- Flawless launch and zero Customer impact
- Project communication and reporting:
- Initial engagement discussions with Plant key stakeholders, with regular follow up.
- Status and progress reporting to key central team members - AME, IT, Operations, EHS, CI, etc.
- Support Quality topics in terms of Traceability, Statistics, Capability, FMEA
- Support plant teams during serial life by training trouble shooting
**Key requirements**:
- 3 years minimum experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role.
- Strong project management experience
- High Standard of English language
- Willingness and flexibility to travel within the role.
- Degree in Industrial or Electrical/ Electronics Engineering
- Automotive End-of-Line testing principles experience
- Experience with electrical schematics, wire harness drawings, diagnostic specs
- Experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role in Seating or Automotive industry. & Understanding of JIT/JIS concepts would be a plus
