We're partnering with a fast-growing, VC-backed fintech on a mission to improve people's financial well-being. Since launching recently, they've already scaled to hundreds of thousands of users and processed over €1B in transactions — and they're just getting started.
The Role
This is a Staff-level, highly hands-on engineering role focused on designing, building, and scaling backend systems in a modern, event-driven environment.
You'll play a key role in shaping architecture, solving complex problems, and raising the technical bar across the team.
What You'll Be Doing
* Designing and scaling backend systems using Python/Django
* Owning architecture in a microservices + event-driven environment
* Working closely with infrastructure and security teams (AWS)
* Taking systems from design → production → scale
* Leveraging AI tools to improve development speed and quality
* Mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering excellence
Tech Stack
Python, Django, AWS, Docker, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, MondoDB and Datadog
What We're Looking For
* 10+ years of backend engineering experience
* Strong expertise in Python & Django
* Proven track record scaling systems in startups or scale-ups
* Experience with AWS and containerized environments
* Deep understanding of PostgreSQL and performance optimisation
* Ability to debug complex production issues
* Focus on performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency
* Strong communication skills (English)
