Position Summary
The Department of Philosophy seeks qualified temporary faculty to teach undergraduate courses such as PHIL 120: Contemporary Conflicts of Morals and other courses identified as needed.
Responsibilities
* Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, assignments, quizzes, class projects, midterm and final exams.
* Ensure all classes meet as scheduled in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).
Appointment
Conditional appointment based on budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the Order of Work provisions in the collective bargaining agreement.
Compensation
Salary commensurate with qualifications within the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358). For a master's degree holder, monthly salary is $5,507 – $6,677 for full-time (15 WTUs). Actual salary will be adjusted based on WTUs assigned.
Required Qualifications
* A Master’s degree in Philosophy, Religious Studies, or a closely related field.
* Demonstrated commitment to diverse student body.
Preferred Qualifications
* Ph.D. in Philosophy or Religious Studies for upper-division courses.
* Commitment to teaching excellence; evidence from teaching evaluations or prior experience.
* Successful undergraduate teaching experience.
