The Software Localisation team powers the tooling, features, and processes used to create an exceptional localized experience for Apple's international customers. We are responsible for localization workflows, framework-level support, localized OS features, and internal tools used to ensure high-quality experiences across all of Apple's software products worldwide.
Position:
Applied ML EngineerAs an Applied ML Engineer in the Software Localisation team, you will join a passionate team of machine learning engineers to design, implement, and optimize localization features, processes, and tooling across various Apple products. You will help architect the future of localizing ML models to deliver world-class software products to millions globally, including Apple Intelligence features like Writing Tools and Genmoji.
Lead the exploration and application of Large Language Models (LLMs) for data synthesis and translation tasks.
Translate cutting-edge research into high-quality systems and models for improved localization.
Engage in all aspects of model development:
ideation, training, experimentation, evaluation, and deployment.
Collaborate with translation, localization quality, project management, and engineering teams to develop solutions.
Develop and maintain features and tools to facilitate data and model localization processes.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience with Machine Learning, especially Large Language Models (LLMs) and Natural Language Processing (NLP).
Strong programming skills in Python, Swift, C, C++, or similar languages.
Preferred Qualifications
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Artificial Intelligence, or Machine Learning.
Ability to interpret and apply recent research to consumer-oriented products.
Hands-on experience with fine-tuning and training models.
Experience adapting pre-trained LLMs for specific tasks.
Proficiency with open-source ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
