The Controls Field Engineer is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and software products within the Controls Services Business portfolio. Customers are primarily in the Power Generation and Oil & Gas industries, both onshore and offshore.
Key Responsibilities:
* Install and commission Control Solutions hardware and software across various machine types in industries such as Oil & Gas, Power Generation, and Fertilizers.
* Troubleshoot existing control hardware and software installations on-site.
* Prepare field service jobs and coordinate interventions with project managers.
* Provide technical assistance and training to customers on-site.
* Supervise mechanical and electrical subcontractors, including de-installation and re-installation of instrumentation.
* Oversee cable laying, meggering, and connections.
* Lead and execute loop checks, commissioning, and performance tests to ensure proper operation.
* Perform start-up procedures and troubleshoot control system issues during operation.
* Maintain accurate timesheets and secure customer signatures.
* Write detailed reports post-job completion.
* Maintain operational knowledge of Nexus Control Solutions hardware and software.
* Monitor site safety during job execution.
* Communicate professionally with customers and team members.
* Understand and adhere to Terms and Conditions (T&C) commitments.
* Input hours, expenses, and timesheets accurately into internal systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, IT Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Experience in Oil & Gas and Power Plant industries.
* Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
* Hands-on troubleshooting skills in electrical and mechanical systems.
* Knowledge of rotating equipment control systems (gas turbines, steam turbines, compressors).
* Experience with control panels, MCC, DCP, DCS, and fire systems installation and commissioning.
* Familiarity with field devices and instruments.
* Ability to use technical tools like multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
* Understanding of technical drawings and diagrams.
* Ability to work under pressure, travel, and work overtime as needed.
* Valid driver’s license and passport or ability to obtain them.
Desired Characteristics:
* Experience with MK Control Panel or Woodward Controls systems.
* Familiarity with computer networks and switches.
