Are you willing to take the lead in the advancement of our research in human toxicology? At ICCRAM, the International Research Center in Critical Raw Materials of the University of Burgos (Spain), we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Scientist with a wide scientific network and a strong scientific track record to join our toxicology group.
Currently ICCRAM is involved in >
10 European Projects which involve the evaluation of the human and environmental toxicity of novel materials and products, to provide Safe (and Sustainable) by Design recommendations based on the SSbD European Framework to be integrated into the market strategy. At ICCRAM, we have established advanced cell and tissue models to assess the potential hazard of materials and products considering the different exposure routes (dermal, oral and respiratory). The candidate will join the toxicology group to implement novel models to assess human toxicity, and understand the mechanisms of action, especially using advanced 3D cell models and will be participating in current and upcoming projects, having the opportunity to engage in international forums.

The selected candidate will join the ICCRAM-EST group (Environment, Sustainability and Toxicology).More information:
Specifically, the position is required for theBiomedicine & Cellular Toxicology Research Line. Principal Researcher: Dr. Laura Gómez Cuadrado.

3. Specific tasks:
* Identification, development and implementation of methods for toxicological analysis of materials and chemicals, including in vitro test methods and new testing approaches.
* Evaluation of human hazard using novel advanced 3D cell culture models.
* Implementation of cell and molecular biology techniques (including genetic engineering, transcriptomics, flow cytometry, etc).
* Analysis and interpretation of the data, including bioinformatic analysis of RNA-seq data.
* Presentation of results in scientific-technical forums, both internally and externally in Project´s Meetings and conferences.
* Publication of Scientific results in high-impact journals.
* Collaboration with the sustainability group at ICCRAM to provide Safe and Sustainable by design recommendations following the SSbD framework.
* Supervision and training of PhD/Master students, leading them to develop high quality, publishable activities.
3. Requirements:
* PhD in Toxicology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry or related disciplines.
* Master´s Degree in human toxicology or biomedicine will be highly valuable.
* Strong scientific track record in human toxicology.
* Strongwet lab experimental skills in cell biology (in vitro toxicity studies, especially in 3D cell culture) and molecular biology and biochemical assays.
* Knowledge in toxicological analysis methodologies of substances, as well as instatistical analysis and data processing, including bioinformatic analyses.
* Expertise inregulatory toxicology, human hazard, risk assessment, chemicals legislation (NAMs, AOPs, IATA, NGRA, SSbD, REACH/CLP/BPR) will be valuable.
* Experience inparticipation inEuropean Projects will be valuable.
* Great communicative (both written and spoken) skills inEnglish (at least C1 proven level).
* Proven internationalprofessional expertise and excellent collaborative skills.Strong teamwork and leadership capabilities.
* Proactive, self-sufficient, multi-tasker with attention to detail, able to work independently as well as in collaboration with others, positive, and honest.
* Able to take responsibility and initiatives to develop, acquire, manage, implement, and disseminate new research projects.
* Availability andwillingness to travel abroad eventually for project meetings and research stays.
