Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Counsel to join our Cybersecurity, Data & AI legal team, with a focus on supporting data-related legal matters across Europe. This role is ideal for a junior lawyer with 2–3 years of experience who is eager to grow in a dynamic, cross-functional environment. The successful candidate will assist in negotiating data protection agreements (DPAs), support compliance with the evolving European data regulatory landscape—including the EU Data Act—and provide legal guidance on data governance, international data transfers, and digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the drafting, review, and negotiation of Data Protection Agreements (DPAs) with suppliers and partners, including analysis of personal data flows and selection of appropriate templates.
* Provide legal advice on GDPR compliance and other European data protection laws, including SCCs, BCRs, and Transfer Impact Assessments.
* Assist in the assessment and mitigation of data privacy risks in commercial and operational contexts, including supplier self-assessments and audit coordination.
* Monitor and analyze developments related to the EU Data Act and other emerging data regulations, and support implementation of legal frameworks for data sharing, access, and portability.
* Collaborate with technical and business teams to ensure legal compliance in data-driven projects, including coordination with Cybersecurity on technical and organizational measures.
* Review and support negotiation of contractual clauses involving data use, access, and protection.
* Contribute to the development of standard templates and playbooks for data-related clauses and participate in change management initiatives to improve DPA processes.
* Conduct legal research and support internal teams with training and awareness programs on data-related legal topics, including monthly sessions and cross-functional meetings.
* Engage with the DPO Office and other stakeholders to align on corporate data privacy strategy and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
* Education: Master’s degree in Law from a recognized European university.
* Certifications: CIPP/E or similar data privacy certification is a plus.
* Experience: 2–3 years of legal experience, ideally with exposure to data protection, technology law, or digital regulation. In-house or law firm experience in the tech or industrial sector is preferred.
* Skills: Solid understanding of GDPR and familiarity with the EU Data Act. Strong drafting and negotiation skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Languages: Fluency in English is required; additional European languages such as French or Spanish are an asset.
Personal Attributes:
* Curious, proactive, and eager to learn.
* Strong sense of ethics and accountability.
* Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
* Comfortable working in a multicultural and cross-functional environment.
* Appetency for IT topics and understanding of IT solutions architecture.
