An opportunity for a C++ Software Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, located at CLAEX (Torrejón Air Base). The selected candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of around 80 professionals providing key technical assistance to the Spanish Air Force. The team is in charge of developing embedded software and mission planning applications to integrate new capabilities into the fighter fleet. The main challenge of this role is to implement software evolution and conduct testing for tactical systems, working in a unique operational environment and in close daily contact with the end customer.

Responsibilities

* Design and implement software modifications using C++ for mission planning applications and airborne systems.
* Define and develop graphical user interfaces (UI) and manage database connections for the application.
* Perform software integration, unit testing, and evaluation of the newly implemented tactical capabilities.
* Maintain the simulation benches and laboratory tools required for software verification.
* Support the generation of technical documentation and maintenance of the systems under military supervision.
Skills
*
* Education: Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunications, Aerospace or a related discipline. A Master’s degree will be valued.
* Experience: Between 5 and 10 years of professional experience in software development. Experience in aerospace or defense sectors (e.g., avionics, tactical systems, UTEs) is highly valued.
* Soft skills: Strong teamwork, professional communication skills, and motivation to work in a structured customer-facing environment.
* Languages: Advanced level in English.
* Technical knowledge: Strong proficiency in C++ programming, User Interface (UI) definition, and databases.
* Valuable / Nice to have: Due to the strategic nature of the project and the daily front‑line contact with the customer at the military base, this role is 100% on‑site and requires a personal vehicle for daily access to the facilities. Candidates must be in a position to obtain a Security Clearance (Secret/NATO Secret).
