At RES, we’re powered by purpose and by the people who bring it to life. We’re looking for a Regional Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations across the region and ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in every process.
While Albacete or Madrid is the preferred location for this role, we are willing to consider candidates based in other Spanish cities who can commute to the office 2–3 times per week.
As Regional Payroll Manager, you will oversee the end-to-end payroll function for the region, managing a small team and providing guidance, coaching, and operational oversight. You’ll deliver initiatives that enhance payroll processes and ensures compliance with local regulations.
In addition to managing payroll operations, you’ll be responsible for advising managers on best practice, and ensuring internal processes are followed. You’ll play a key role in driving continuous improvement and supporting employee experience through timely and accurate payroll delivery. The ideal candidate will have strong payroll management experience combined with deep knowledge of payroll processes, systems, and compliance requirements.
Key Accountabilities
* Leadership & Oversight: Manage and lead the regional payroll team, providing coaching, guidance, and performance support. Ensure payroll operations align with organisational policies and standards.
* Payroll Operations: Oversee the end-to-end payroll process for the region, ensuring timely and accurate payments. Maintain compliance with local tax laws, statutory requirements, and company policies. Monitor and reconcile payroll data, including benefits, deductions, and statutory filings.
* Reward & Governance: Responsible for overseeing the delivery of all cyclical and ad-hoc reward projects, including the annual pay review process, bonus cycles, firm-wide reporting, and governance data.
* Systems & Process Management: Maintain and update payroll processes, ensuring data integrity and security. Drive process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll and workforce data.
* Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to internal controls and audit requirements. Keep up to date with legislative changes and implement necessary adjustments.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to managers on payroll-related queries and best practice. Provide clear reporting and insights to senior leadership on payroll metrics and trends.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in managing payroll operations across multiple jurisdictions.
* Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance, and reporting requirements.
* Proficiency in MS Office, payroll systems and HRIS platforms.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
* Ability to lead and develop a small team in a fast-paced environment.
* Understanding of payroll process improvement and business change demonstrated in a dynamic and growing business environment
* Fluent in Spanish and English
Qualifications
* Certified Payroll Professional accreditation preferred
* Professional membership desirable
* Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* Strong understanding of reward processes, including pay review and bonus cycles.
* Advanced Excel skills and experience with payroll software.
* Knowledge of employment law and tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
