We are looking for a hands-on, innovative, bold, passionate **Director, Development**to play a critical role in URW’s mission to create the most innovative and sustainable places that reinvent being together. A key component of this role will be not only enhancing the incredible retail assets that we hold but also creating incredible mixed-use destinations through the addition of residential, office, cultural, and hospitality focused assets to our communities. This position will report directly to the SVP, Development East. The Director, Development will not only be responsible for helping to execute the mixed-use program that is underway, they will also be responsible for planning and executing on the ambitious pipeline for our U.S. assets both on the retail and mixed-use sides. **In This Role, Your Main Missions Are**
- Actively lead, mentor and inspire team members to develop and execute both retail and mixed use phased developments.
- Understand and develop a wide network of current and future partners that can help partner with URW and drive our industry forward in terms of world-class placemaking
- Help create and execute a bold vision of shop, live, work, play development plans
- Constantly develop, define and execute innovative strategic options to optimize the valuation of an asset
- Partner with applicable internal stakeholders and third-party development partners to create and execute compelling and unique commercial opportunities supported by comprehensive financials for future investment consideration
- Directly influence the scope, budget and direction of the retail, food and beverage, and entertainment related development projects while successfully prioritizing project pipelines

**What We Are Looking For**
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Demonstrated strategic & business development skills within the industry
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant real estate development experience and proven track record in managing design, construction and development of multiple projects including retail, food & beverage and entertainment. Multi-family experience is a plus.
- Experience in all aspects of the development process, including strategic planning, commercial evaluation, team formation, approvals & permitting, design, underwriting, finance, construction and stabilization
- Previous experience assisting with leading a design build project and/or multiple small to medium construction projects as an executive within a real estate/construction development company
- Proven ability to oversee the initial structuring and ongoing problem solving of complex financial transactions to maximize both social and financial returns and manage corporate risk
- Polished, articulate public speaker, comfortable with a wide variety of audiences
- Strong financial and effective written communication skills
- Experience managing and working others and collaborating in multi-functional teams
- Experience with state/local politics, government planning, and resource allocation processes, including establishing effective relationships with major city officials, town planning boards, and neighborhood groups
- Organized, detail-oriented and results oriented
- An entrepreneurial and creative approach to developing new, innovative ideas that will stretch the organization and push the boundaries within the industry
- Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty; the ability to adapt nimbly and lead others through complex situations
- Collaborative, versátil, team player; relates well to colleagues at all levels of the organization
- Values and possesses experience building highly effective cross-functional teams
- Values diversity to ensure multi-talented team strengths; promotes a spirit of inclusion and equity
- Creative and passionate spirit

**Compensation**
- $154,000 -$218,000 per year + up to 20% Annual Discretionary Bonus (STI)
- Exempt
