About UIC Barcelona
UIC Barcelona is home to around 8,000 students and offers 16 bachelor’s degree programmes, around 30 international double degrees and a wide range of master's and postgraduate degrees, in addition to continuing education courses in different fields of knowledge. About the Physiotherapy Department
The Physiotherapy Department in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, offers a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy, three Master’s Degrees and a number of continuing education courses. Also, it is characterized by the fact it undertakes innovative teaching and research projects through a senior research group and different focuses of research.
Our department is developing different strategies to adapt the academic curriculum of our physical therapy degree and our areas of research to the needs of the present society. This mission is supported and reinforced by the nature of our campus, which consists of six different degrees belonging to health sciences. This academic environment gives lecturers and researchers the possibility to develop their careers to an excellent standard.
What we are looking for
This call is focused on the specialization of physical activity and sports science, with a significant curriculum in the areas of education and clinical research. Experience on the use of exercise as a tool for the rehabilitation of people with respiratory chronic diseases is also another considerable requirement. Supplementary merits include participation in competitive grants, publications in the field of cardiorespiratory chronic diseases, academic prizes including conference rewards, and possession of a PhD with the highest score.

The following points describe the conditions of this competitive call for the candidates:
1. A six-year position with an intermediate evaluation.
2. We offer a full-time contract, a good working environment and a dynamic environment, flexible working hours and support for research.
3. Salary: we offer a very competitive salary according to the characteristics of the offered position.
4. The position will be located at UIC Barcelona, in the Department of Physiotherapy.
5. Start date: the desired start date would be the 1st September 2026.

Selection process
In May 2018, the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya received recognition from EURAXESS via an HR Excellence in Research Award that ensures that the selection of candidates is carried out only based on criteria for excellence. The UIC Barcelona selection process includes:
6. An independent committee of experts who evaluate applications and decide who will move on to the next stage. All the committee members are from outside UIC-Barcelona.
7. A public oral defence by finalists: presentation of their trajectory (both academic and teaching) and their research project/s. Following this presentation, the examining panel will ask a number of questions to conclude the defence. The defence will take 60 minutes in total.

The application deadline is June 20th 2026.
Requisitos
A Bachelor in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences.
A PhD in health sciences from 2023 to present.
Assessment criteria
The most important requirement is for candidates to have a demonstrable track record in research on exercise and physical activity in respiratory chronic diseases. Other potential criteria include:
8. Demonstrable experience in supervising undergraduate and post-graduate (Master’s degree level)
9. Demonstrable experience of degree-level teaching (It would be highly advantageous if the candidate has teaching experience at masters or postgraduate level).
10. Demonstrable clinical experience in prescribing exercise for respiratory chronic patients.
11. Proven ability to contribute to multidisciplinary projects and collaborative teams, with previous experience in competitive grants.
12. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
13. For non-Spanish candidates, knowledge of Catalan and/or Spanish will be considered an asset.
14. A commitment to the university in the long-term.
