📢 At China Three Gorges Europe we are looking for a Middle Office Intern to join our will support the Energy Management and Trading team in the monitoring, control and analysis of trading activities in electricity and environmental markets.
The role will focus on risk reporting, trading controls and analytical support, contributing to the development of risk management tools and market analytics used by the trading desk.
* Support the maintenance and updating of risk reports related to the company’s trading activities, including Power and Guarantees of Origin (GO) portfolios.
* Assist in the development and maintenance of operational controls required for the proper functioning of an electricity trading desk.
* Contribute to the calculation and monitoring of risk metrics, including Mark-to-Market (MtM), Value at Risk (VaR), and internal risk limits.
* Participate in market analysis and risk monitoring activities, supporting the tracking of trading positions and exposures.
* Assist in R&D initiatives related to electricity price forecasting models, including data preparation, analysis and performance monitoring.
* Support the continuous monitoring of revenues from spot market operations, working together with the Front Office team.
* Contribute to the development of analytical tools and dashboards used to monitor trading performance and market conditions.
💼 Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, STEM or double degree in Engineering and Business Administration ; or equivalent work experience.
* Fluent in English and Spanish.
* Microsoft office package (advanced), programing skills and data analysis tools (Python, R, or similar)
Other Valuable Requirements:
* Machine Learning and/or data management software will be highly valued
* Financial background would be highly valued
* Good Chinese speaking skills will be a plus
* Strong interest in energy markets, commodities trading and risk management.
* Good analytical and quantitative skills.
* Ability to work in a dynamic and analytical environment.
* Proactive and critical attitude for creating new and innovative processes.
