Responsibilities
Societe Generale Madrid is looking for an Analyst to reinforce the local team of Advisory & Financing Group (AFG). This department belongs to the Investment Banking Division (IBD) and is at the heart of the strategic dialogue with our key corporate clients, providing debt & rating advisory as well as delivering complex financing in event-driven situations (M&A, spin-off, IPO, restructuring), in close cooperation with other corporate finance teams. We originate and underwrite acquisition and strategic finance deals and execute debt and rating advisory mandates.
Trend setter in terms of digital strategy and ESG rating dialogue, AFG is also a driving force in terms of innovation. The Spanish team is currently composed of 4 employees.
The candidate will be involved in the origination and execution of acquisition finance and/or rating advisory mandates, actively participating in the provision of integrated debt structuring/capital structure/rating advisory/acquisition finance solutions to key clients of the bank and in the promotion of SG offer in loan and capital markets, in close connection with coverage and corporate finance.
Your main responsibilities:
* In conjunction with other colleagues and under the supervision of senior members of the team, assist in the pitching of targeted clients to originate acquisition finance/rating advisory mandates, and provide guidance on debt structuring/capital structure/debt raising/rating matters.
* Assist in multi-products pitch and execution.
* Deliver solid modeling/financing material.
* Contribute to establishing close cooperation between AFG and other GBIS business lines to provide clients with innovative financing/rating solutions and best execution.
* Identify opportunities to cross-sell SG's full product range.
Origination and execution
* Produce and/or participate in the production of timely and accurate financial models, marketing material/pitches, credit/rating analyses.
* Assist in carrying out due diligence when applicable.
* Participate (when relevant) in the assessment of the feasibility of transactions/mandates, including underwriting and capital commitment, considering available resources and profitability metrics.
* Get acquainted with mandates, term sheets, legal documentation in conjunction with external/internal counsel (where applicable) produced and reviewed by senior members of the team.
* Assist in mandates/deals execution in a timely manner, in full compliance with SG's internal procedures (and in close contact with closing/back-office managers when applicable).
* Supervise interns (when relevant) to ensure that work is properly executed and that a high quality of output is maintained as per deadlines.
* Ensure continued usage (under the supervision of a more senior member of the team) of the appropriate presentation, credit, rating, underwriting, legal documentation as per prevailing compliance standards, and act responsibly within agreed credit risk limits.
* Contribute to compliance with all internal and regulatory procedures, including but not limited to compliance with Chinese walls, insider lists, conflict checks, management of confidential/insider information, KYC, MIFID (when relevant) and all related aspects.
* Contribute to reporting to AFG management and COO of information related to ongoing transactions including permanent supervision, exposure management and escalate problems appropriately.
Other responsibilities
* Contribute to developing and promoting AFG and the acquisition finance/rating advisory franchise/products with clients and within SG.
* Keep abreast of new market and sector methodologies and products development and leverage them with clients and internally in the implementation of origination strategies.
* Be aware of operational risks and respect guidelines defined by the bank to prevent them, including meeting all internal compliance rules and compliance with SG Code of Conduct.
* Be actively involved in the recruitment, appraisal, and development of junior staff/interns.
* Provide guidance, support, and training to junior staff/interns and assist in developing a dynamic and collaborative work culture within AFG.
Profile required
Studies & experience:
* 2 to 4 years of experience in a similar role in Investment Banking.
* Required: Bachelor's degree in economics, Business Administration or Engineering.
Language skills:
* Excellent level in English.
Technical, operational & Soft skills:
* Solid credit/rating knowledge and origination skills.
* Strong knowledge of Financial Modelling.
* Capacity to contribute to the execution with a large degree of autonomy of AFG mandates and deliver marketing pitches, under close supervision of other senior and experienced professionals of the team.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
* Time and project management.
* Team player, initiative, and pro-activity.
