Electrical Engineer Coordinator - Balenciaga Shipyard (Zumaia)
Balenciaga Shipyard, part of Abu Dhabi Ports Group / Safeen Drydocks, is looking to hire an Electrical Engineer Coordinator to manage and oversee all electrical engineering activities across our newbuilding and repair projects at our facility in Zumaia, Gipuzkoa.
About the role
The selected candidate will coordinate the full scope of electrical engineering works throughout the vessel construction process, acting as the primary technical reference for electrical systems — from design review and procurement support through to installation supervision, testing, and commissioning.
Key responsibilities
Review and approve electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications in coordination with the design office and classification society
Coordinate electrical installation works carried out by in-house teams and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with approved drawings and class requirements
Oversee cable routing, penetrations, switchboard installation, and system integration across all vessel types
Plan and supervise electrical testing and commissioning activities, including FATs, HATs, and sea trials
Manage the electrical material procurement process in coordination with the purchasing department, controlling delivery schedules and technical compliance
Maintain full electrical documentation traceability: drawings, test records, inspection certificates, and NCRs
Liaise with classification society surveyors and owner's representatives on all electrical matters
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, automation, HVAC) to ensure system integration and avoid interface conflicts
Support project planning by providing electrical engineering input to schedules and progress reports
Candidate profile
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering within a shipbuilding or offshore environment
Sound knowledge of classification society rules for electrical installations (Lloyd's, Bureau Veritas, DNV, or equivalent)
Experience with marine electrical systems: LV/MV switchboards, power distribution, navigation and communication systems, automation interfaces
Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, and IECEx standards applicable to marine environments
Experience coordinating subcontractors and managing electrical installation packages
Fluent English and Spanish required.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent tools valued
