Role Description
This is a part-time remote role for a Lighting Technician. The Lighting Technician will be responsible for designing and managing lighting setups for performances, ensuring proper illumination and ambiance that enhance the overall experience. Daily tasks include operating and controlling lighting systems, implementing stage lighting designs, and coordinating electrical setups to meet performance requirements.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Lighting Design, Lighting Control, and Stage Lighting
- Practical skills and experience in Electrical Wiring and Lighting
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to ensure proper alignment with creative and technical requirements
- Ability to collaborate with performers and stage management to achieve artistic visions
- Previous experience in live entertainment or music performance settings is a plus
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting
Key Responsibilities
- Setup & Rigging : Load in/out, rig, focus, and patch intelligent lighting fixtures, LED fixtures, moving heads, conventional lights, follow spots, and related equipment according to lighting plots and production schedules.
- Programming & Operation : Program and operate lighting consoles (e.g., GrandMA2/3, Hog, ChamSys, or similar) during rehearsals and live shows. Create, execute, and adjust cues in real-time to enhance the artistic vision of the performance.
- Collaboration : Work closely with the lighting designer, production manager, sound team, video crew, stagehands, and artists to achieve seamless shows.
- Safety & Compliance : Adhere to all rigging, electrical, and venue safety protocols. Conduct pre-show checks and risk assessments.
- Touring/Travel : Participate in local, regional, or national tours as required, including long hours, irregular schedules, and overnight travel.
Requirements
- Experience : 3+ years of professional experience as a lighting technician in live concerts, tours, festivals, or large-scale events. Experience with arena or stadium productions is a strong plus.
- Technical Skills :
- Proficiency with lighting consoles (GrandMA2/3, Hog 4, etc.) and networking (DMX, Art-Net, sACN).
- Strong knowledge of moving lights, LED technology, rigging, and power distribution.
- Ability to read and interpret lighting plots, CAD drawings, and technical riders.
- Physical & Availability : Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and stand for long periods. Adaptable availability for evenings, weekends, and travel.
- Soft Skills : Strong problem-solving under pressure, excellent communication, teamwork, and a professional attitude in high-stress live environments.
- Certifications : ETCP or equivalent rigging/electrical certifications preferred. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record may be required.
