Tour Description
During this private wine tasting tour you’ll visit two (or three, see “More Wine” option) boutique wineries of your choice in the Penedes or Priorat regions, and you’ll do so in the company of a knowledgeable English-speaking sommelier and guide, who will be able to talk you through the fascinating history wine production in the region, and offer you insights about the local terroir and indigenous grape varieties.
At each winery you’ll be invited to explore the vineyards and cellars, meet the wine-makers, and most importantly enjoy plenty of wine tasting of the local Catalan red, white and sparkling varieties, all in an intimate environs (on this tour you’ll be avoiding all the touristic wineries!).
The tour also includes a traditional Catalan lunch at one of the wineries.
The itinerary is more or less the same, no matter whether you choose the Penedes or Priorat version of this tour, however the price of the Priorat tour is a little higher as the wines are higher quality and the journey time is longer, meaning it’s a longer day. The tour can also be personalised according to which type of wine you prefer, and departure times.
All prices include your sommelier-guide, private transport to / from Barcelona with hotel pick-up, and all wine and food for the day.
Penedes Tour Itinerary
The Penedes is famous for its sparkling Cava, a match for French Champagne, but you’ll also taste its excellent oak-aged reds, and whites made from xarel·lo, macabeu and parellada grape varieties:
09:00 – Pick up from your hotel / accommodation
10:00 – Arrival at the first cellar, visit and tasting their different wines.
12:30 – Second cellar visit and tastings, plus a delicious Catalan rustic lunch.
15:00 – Drive back to Barcelona
16:00 – Arrival back at your hotel

Priorat Tour Itinerary
Priorat is one of only two denominación de origen calificada wine regions in the whole of Spain... the other being Rioja. In other words, the full-bodied reds that you drink on this tour are the very best wines you can taste in the Barcelona region.
