Role Summary:
The Field Service Technician installs, commissions, monitors, troubleshoots, and repairs mainly valves, although also pumps, seals, and other equipment across industries such as oil and gas, chemical, nuclear, coal, and wastewater industries, depending on customer engagement. In this challenging position, the FST provides real-time technical support to customers, offers recommendations for repairs, upgrades, and replacement equipment, and troubleshoots problems onsite at customer facilities. Our Field Service Technician team is the face of Flowserve, delivering world-class service to create a lasting competitive advantage.
Responsibilities & Requirements:
* Make direct, in-person service calls in response to customer requests.
* Assess mechanical problems and resolve promptly.
* Work with customer personnel and lead work crews as required.
* Oversee the full cycle of repair: disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly.
* Ensure successful and timely equipment installation.
* Check equipment prior to start-up and assess performance.
* Monitor maintenance and performance of Flowserve equipment.
* Train customers in proper operation and maintenance procedures.
* Collaborate with Flowserve support organizations, including repair centers, customer service, and sales engineering.
* Maintain accurate records of daily reports, jobs quoted, jobs performed, and time/materials charged.
* Experience with installing mechanical equipment.
* Experience repairing valves, pumps, installing mechanical seals, and changing seal faces/gaskets/O-rings.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and schematics.
* Self-starter with good follow-through, capable of working independently.
* Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
* Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
* Ability to travel for extended periods.
* Ability to work overtime as needed.
* Physical activity including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, and reaching around large equipment.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Adherence to Flowserve’s values for ethics, safety, and quality.
Preferred Skills:
* Professional certifications in this field.
* Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
* HS Diploma/GED and 5-7 years relevant experience.
