As a Senior QA Engineer with automation, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing test strategies, test plans, and test cases that validate software conformance to defined acceptance criteria, design documentation, and application standards. Functional test execution, both manual and automated, is required, and knowledge in non-functional testing (e.g., performance and load testing) is also highly desirable.
Beyond technical expertise, this role requires a strong balance of leadership, communication, and organizational skills. The successful candidate will act as a trusted partner for QA management, taking ownership of a portfolio of applications/products, ensuring their QA practices, documentation, and automation are accurate, consistent, and continuously improved.
What you will be doing:
- Designing functional and non-functional automated validation solutions, creating, maintaining, and executing automated test scripts to perform functional testing;
- Documenting and implementing test strategies, plans, processes, and reviewing and revising acceptance criteria for accuracy, clarity, and completeness;
- Providing task estimates for the creation and execution of manual and automated tests, reporting to Project Managers any variance that may jeopardize the project;
- Identifying and reporting defects and issues that arise during testing, ensuring the availability and good health of the testing environments, creating and maintaining test scripts for non-functional testing;
- Creating and collaborating with the definition, maintenance, and extension of the test automation suite, contributing to the maintenance of the test automation framework, and evaluating and ensuring that appropriate testing tools are selected and applied for optimum value;
- Owning and maintaining a comprehensive QA inventory of applications/products, including documentation, GitHub repositories, Jenkins jobs, automation best practices, and configuration details;
- Partnering with multiple Team Leaders across the organization to improve QA-related practices, negotiate changes, and ensure alignment with best practices, providing testing support and coaching for junior members of the testing team;
- Proactively sharing valuable experience and findings with the QA Practice Team, providing peer review of test automation implementation, input and research findings to QA Management.
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive experience in software quality assurance, with a strong focus on test automation;
- Proven ability to coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders, influence improvements, and negotiate technical or process changes;
- Strong organizational skills to maintain and evolve a mid-to-large QA knowledge base (documentation, repositories, CI/CD jobs, best practices);
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and build consensus with technical and non-technical partners;
- A strategic mindset; you can see the bigger picture, understand the interconnectedness of systems, and align QA initiatives with broader business objectives;
- Deep expertise with modern automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium WebDriver, Selenide, REST-Assure, etc.) and experience and knowledge of Behaviour Driven Development testing and tools;
- Strong proficiency in an object-oriented language, preferably Java and solid experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), and issue-tracking tools (JIRA);
- A firm understanding of APIs, RESTful architecture, and experience in testing against endpoints and high attention to detail and methodical approach to test preparation and execution.
