Interim Engineering Manager Iberia - 12 months
Role Summary
Americold is seeking a proactive and technically skilled Engineering Manager Iberia to support and complement the current regional engineering leadership for a period of around 12 months.
This role will act as a strategic backup, ensuring continuity and operational excellence across Iberia while the primary manager focuses on a specialized initiative. The Engineering Manager will oversee maintenance operations, contractor coordination, compliance, and continuous improvement across multiple cold storage facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Operational backup & continuity
Serve as the engineering lead for Iberia in the absence or limited availability of the primary manager.
Ensure seamless execution of maintenance and engineering activities across all sites.
Maintenance & Facility oversight
Manage daily maintenance operations including refrigeration, material handling equipment, and utilities.
Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs and ensure timely corrective actions.
Contractor & vendor management
Coordinate external contractors for specialized repairs, installations, and upgrades.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards.
Compliance & safety
Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Budgeting & Planning
Support the development of annual maintenance budgets and capital expenditure plans.
Monitor expenditures and contribute to cost-saving initiatives.
Technical Leadership
Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend improvements.
Support engineering projects including automation, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial preferred).
5+ years of experience in maintenance or engineering management, ideally in cold storage or logistics.
Strong understanding of refrigeration systems, warehouse automation, and contractor management.
Fluent in English and Spanish; Portuguese is a plus.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Willingness to travel across Iberia as needed.
