Overview
Digital Sports Reporter – Global Sport – Reuters is seeking an ambitious, digitally minded Sports Reporter with outstanding knowledge of international sport and excellent written and spoken English, ready to thrive in a fast-paced global newsroom. You will operate as a fully multi-media journalist, working across text, video and pictures as part of a dynamic global sports unit delivering to digital and broadcast clients worldwide. From Olympic Games and FIFA World Cups to major championships across summer and winter sport, our coverage defines the global agenda. We move at the speed of live competition — and our reporting must be sharp, authoritative and platform-ready. This is a full-time role requiring flexibility and commitment, working within a 24/7 rotating shift system aligned to the rhythm of global sport — including weekends, afternoons and evenings.
About The Role
As a Reuters Sports Reporter, you will:
* Break news and deliver fast, accurate, compelling sports stories for a global audience.
* Write clean, authoritative copy under deadline pressure — from quick-turn match reports to deeper enterprise pieces.
* Work closely with video producers, picture editors and graphics teams to shape integrated, multi-platform storytelling.
* Script and present video segments or provide on-camera analysis when required.
* Identify strong visual elements and collaborate to ensure pictures and video enhance your reporting.
* Adapt stories for digital platforms with strong headlines and audience engagement in mind.
* Contribute ideas that travel across formats — from text to video to live digital coverage.
About You
* Fluent English (additional languages, particularly Spanish, are a strong advantage).
* Deep knowledge of global sport, especially football, and a strong instinct for what matters in live competition.
* Experience filing fast, accurate copy in a breaking news environment.
* Confidence working across formats — including scripting video, understanding visual storytelling and collaborating with picture desks.
* Strong digital instincts, including headline writing and audience-focused storytelling.
* The ability to remain calm, decisive and collaborative under pressure.
* Experience in a multimedia newsroom environment (highly desirable).
* A commitment to Reuters Trust Principles: independence, integrity and freedom from bias.
* A desire to contribute to a diverse, global team united by a shared mission.
Please Note: Complete applications must be submitted by 23:59 (CET) on Sunday 22nd March 2026. Early applications are encouraged.
