Responsibilities
Optical Design & Analysis
* Lead the optical architecture and design of space instruments, from conceptual studies to final definition.
* Perform performance budgeting, optical simulations, and prototyping activities.
* Conduct trade-off studies to evaluate alternative solutions and optimize system performance.
Integration & Validation
* Define test plans and verification strategies at the instrument level.
* Prepare and execute integration, validation, and qualification activities.
* Ensure compliance of the design with customer requirements and interface constraints.
Project Coordination
* Ensure technical consistency across disciplines (mechanical, thermal, electrical, AIT).
* Coordinate activities with subcontractors and partners, both technically and programmatically.
* Represent the optical domain in system-level discussions and customer reviews.
Technical Leadership
* Formalize system specifications and requirements derived from customer needs.
* Develop risk mitigation strategies and early de-risking actions throughout the design phase.
* Support the demonstration of the instrument's capabilities to clients and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
* Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or Optical Engineering.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in the design and development of optical instruments for space applications.
* Proven knowledge in the design of optical systems operating in the visible and/or infrared spectrum.
* Experience with optical design and simulation tools.
* Familiarity with space-qualified materials and optical technologies, including UV to thermal IR domains.
* Fluency in English and Spanish (both written and spoken).
