Overview Temporary Faculty Pool - Lecturer in Curriculum and Instruction, and/or Educational Research. Work type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary/Lecturer. Location: Fresno. Department: Curriculum and Instruction.The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers lower-division, upper-division and postbaccalaureate/credential courses for the preparation and professional development of PreK-12 teachers. The department also houses two master's programs (M.A.Ed.-C&I and MAT) and two advanced certificate programs – educational technology and research methods. Department faculty are active in teaching, scholarship, service, and grant leadership.
Position Summary The Department seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate, credential, and/or graduate courses offered by the department. Include the course(s) you are interested in teaching within your letter of interest. Qualified candidates may teach undergraduate courses such as CI and ERE courses or other classes identified to fulfill educational goals of current students.
Responsibilities Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2.Instructors are responsible for preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading (as appropriate) lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams.All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).
Appointment / Conditions Conditional Appointment: Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. Appointees will be required to demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States (Fresno State is not a sponsoring agency for Temporary Faculty positions).
Compensation Commensurate by qualifications and experience within salary range placement. Salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). The salary range for Temporary Faculty with a Master's degree is $5,507-6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs); starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. Actual salary will depend on WTUs assigned per term.
Anticipated Semester The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. The pool is for part-time lecturers and the number of positions varies by semester. Appointments are often made just prior to the start of the term. The pool remains in place for two academic terms; those remaining beyond that time must reapply.
Required Qualifications Education (from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent): A Master's degree in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field
Experience Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.CI and ERE courses: 100-level courses require that the instructor hold at least a master's degree, and 200-level courses require a doctorate. Credential courses require that instructors have earned a teaching credential and have relevant TK-12 classroom teaching experience. Preferred Qualifications A commitment to teaching excellence in higher education, evidenced through prior teaching experiences and evaluations or other evidence.Successful teaching experience in a higher education setting.Recent experience teaching at the PreK-12 level.
