About the Role
As part of the Global Purchasing Organization, you will assist in developing and implementing Purchasing Strategies aligned with Goals, Objectives, and Commodity Roadmaps set by the Global Commodity Director and Regional Commodity Lead. You will be responsible for sourcing, making sourcing decisions, negotiating, and managing the supply base for a segment or group of suppliers, adhering to purchasing policies, ethics, safety, and environmental standards.
We are seeking a Strategic Commodity Buyer, EU (Plastics), to support our Global Purchasing Team in Europe, to join us as soon as possible.
Your Responsibilities
* Develop effective Purchasing Strategies.
* Define bidders list, conduct supplier negotiations, and recommend suppliers for new business awards.
* Identify and implement cost savings through negotiations, resourcing, VA/VE, or new technologies.
* Support escalation processes, resolving issues like shortages, commercial disputes, or quality concerns, coordinating between suppliers and divisions.
* Evaluate the potential of new suppliers.
* Develop target costing (OEM RFQ) for plastic parts in coordination with the Purchasing team.
* Identify and promote process improvements in Purchasing.
* Maintain updated reports on key KPIs and data.
* Conduct regular benchmarks and negotiations aligned with commodity strategy and divisions.
* Train divisional buyers on commodity basics.
Who we are looking for
* 3-5 years of progressive experience in Purchasing, preferably in automotive or manufacturing, focusing on Plastics.
* Experience with Plastics commodities is mandatory; experience with Resins is appreciated. (Please specify your responsibilities in your CV.)
* Proven success in strategic and operational purchasing of both direct and indirect materials.
* Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 20% of the time.
* Advanced Excel skills are appreciated.
* Ability to lead and motivate a team of divisional buyers.
* Excellent communication skills for presenting to Top Management.
* Self-driven, seeking continuous improvement.
* Positive attitude and calmness in challenging situations.
Your preferred qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, business, or a related discipline.
