The Commercial Property Sr. Underwriter will demonstrate significant technical analysis and underwriting acumen combined with marketing and sales skills to meet production underwriting goals. This position will be a primary contributor to the development and production of a profitable portfolio, a key member of a high performing team, and overall underwriting and execution for AIG. This position will maintain strong broker and client relationships and be responsible for a sub-set of the overall profitability of the business. Candidates are expected to work effectively in a team environment in addition to working independently to manage a profitable book of new and renewal business.

How you will create an impact
This role will focus on underwriting new and renewal business to help drive the profitable growth of our Property department .
You will be responsible for assessing the desirability of risk through regular contact with brokers, close co-ordination with AIG subject matter experts and robust reviews of claims history and general company information.
Your relationships with brokers will be key to your success. You will need to provide excellent service to brokers through a consistent, timely, and proactive approach to underwriting. You will also aim to generate new business by expanding your broker network, attending broker events, and building new relationships across the market – in line with a sales plan established with your manager.
Another key aspect of the role is the provision of accurate monthly management information including submissions, bind rate, average premium, and total premium.

Contribute to the strategic development of our Pro perty Multinational portfolio .
Develop and lead broker relationships establishing accretive pipelines, and for cross selling opportunities across the AIG network.
Work cross functionally with other areas in AIG to achieve corporate objectives.
Work within agreed decision-making standards, limitations, authorities and underwriting guidelines.
Working collaboratively in a team environment including development and training of junior staff
Achieve satisfactory ratings on all underwriting quality reviews.
Ensure all corporate service standards are maintained to both brokers & internal colleagues.
Ability to prioritize workload and to use own initiative for both internal and external issues.
Maintain and develop strong broker and client relationships.
Support the culture of continuous improvement in all areas including improving processes to make the business more efficient and creating an environment where people are encouraged to take initiative and responsibility.

What you’ll need to succeed
Relevant and extensive Underwriting experience in Property .
Strong technical insurance knowledge, with particular focus on the international market. Terrorism underwriting experience is an advantage, as well as experience in Multinational accounts.
Engineering degree (or equivalent) preferred, Law or Business Administration.
Fluent English skills (written & spoken).
The ability to analyze financial statements.
Strong communication, networking and relationship building skills (with brokers and clients), including delivery of presentations to all levels of stakeholders, including claims and distribution (both broker and client engagement).
Good organizational and time management skills.
Customer and Sales orientated behaviors : motivated, tenacious, focused, technically skilled, proactive, and accountable.
Strong negotiation skills in a competitive business environment.
