Lead Engineering Manager
We are seeking an experienced Lead Engineering Manager reporting to the Development Director of our Accommodation area, you will manage a team of seven lead engineers encompassing a complete crew or sub-area of accommodation product development.

What you will do:
You will be leveraging the entire product development process from upstream ideation to downstream delivery of our ambitions. Having an empowered, engaged team will drive us to the best outcomes, so you will make a specific effort to create, retain and motivate this team, enabling them to fly high.
This role is for a senior engineering people manager who understands the magic of software development processes at scale and appreciates the challenges of powering ultra-high volume transactional systems with an ambition of quasi-real-time response times and stellar reliability.
Having direct impact on our overall business objectives with accommodation products at the heart of our efforts for this year and the next to come.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Co-define the strategy for the accommodation vertical in conjunction with the Development Director and translate the strategy for your team or 7 direct reports, giving it a vision for the future to pursue having direct impact on our business objectives. Influence the overall area roadmap and drive your crew's strategy and roadmap definition for accommodation products.
Data-Driven Decision Making:
Measure your impact in output and outcome of your team and challenge/influence your stakeholders in a data-driven manner. Apply modern metrics for software development.
AI & Innovation:
Ideate with your team on how to optimise processes and develop state-of-art and customer-centric products by being part of our overall company AI transformation.
Team Leadership:
Set expectations, share ownership among the team, manage senior developers and drive a high-performance team with a strategic vision and human-centered/servant leadership style. Directly lead your leadership team composed of Lead Engineers, facilitating their growth and unlocking their full potential, leveraging our full spectrum of support tools.
Provide leadership to an entire "crew" of the company, typically around 50 developers of 7 pods, by facilitating an aligned, autonomous way of working.
Communication & Collaboration:
Communicate and collaborate effectively with your stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Share objectives with the product team as well as more technical shareholders such as Architecture or marketplace operations.
Speed & Agility:
Generate more value for our customers in less time. Lead deliveries of overall importance through all stages of the product development and operations lifecycle. Drive for excellence in our deliveries, creating a simple, reliant, performant platform at scale.

Key challenges in your reach:
Platform migration and updating the techstack - optimise the utilisation of your providers for accommodation products - improve product building in price and availability - optimise the static content - and problem-solving of other industry-specific challenges.
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field
At least 7 years of experience in software or hardware engineering, with at least 4 years of experience in a management role
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and to influence both technical as well as business-thinking stakeholders
Strong technical skills and experience with software development languages and frameworks, as well as hardware design and development processes
Experience in agile principles, working with backend development teams in Java.
Knowledge of agile development methodologies and experience working in an agile environment
Experience with driving, tracking and following up and rolling out important projects and initiatives
Familiarity with quality assurance processes and tools
