Benchmarking the costs of powertrain systems and components by systematically comparing internal cost structures to those of competitors. The primary objective is to provide actionable insights that inform Design and Process teams about engineering and cost optimization efforts, ensuring the company's offerings remain competitive in the general automotive market. This position is designed to develop and leverage internal expertise.
What to expect:
- Build and maintain in-house competitive costing capabilities:
- Develop Competitive Costing Process and Tools.
- Collect necessary data for Costing, using internal and external teardown information.
- Identify cost drivers, material choices, manufacturing processes, and sourcing strategies used by competitors.
- Maintain a database of benchmarked cost data for use in ongoing and future projects.
- Realize Costing assessments
- For powertrain at large, including engines, transmissions, batteries and other systems
- Formalize detailed should costs analyses and gap analyses
- Collaborate and Communicate
- Coordinate with internal costing engineers to develop consistent tools and practices.
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, and finance teams to validate benchmarking assumptions and ensure data accuracy.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing findings, cost differentials, and strategic recommendations for management and engineering teams.
What you bring along:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 7 years of experience in powertrain costing within the automotive industry
- Experience with cost benchmarking, teardown analysis, and competitive intelligence in the automotive sector.
- Knowledge of Costing Software, including preferably Siemens Costing SW.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with cost modelling tools and techniques.
- Ability to interpret technical and financial data from diverse sources
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for conveying complex benchmarking findings.
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of the latest trends in automotive powertrain.
- Fluency in English. Fluency in Spanish and/or French, to effectively communicate in our diverse work environment.
