Job Description
The Eggplant breeding department of Rijk Zwaan Ibérica develops tomato varieties for many different market segments worldwide. As a Breeder Eggplant, based in Spain, you will be part of our Eggplant breeding team developing varieties for the open field market segment. Your responsibilities include:
1. Working on new varieties, plant concepts, and disease resistances in close contact with the market and sales team.
2. Conducting breeding tasks such as phenotyping, evaluation, and administration of trials on-site and abroad.
3. Participating in international travel to judge variety trials.
4. Setting up variety trials with stakeholders like customers or research institutes.
5. Engaging in strategic discussions about the breeding program.
Candidate Profile
You are a team player who is proactive, creative, flexible, and solution-oriented. You take initiative, pay attention to detail, and work in a structured manner. Excellent communication, organizational, and administrative skills are essential. Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Spanish is also necessary. Your CV should demonstrate:
* A BSc or MSc in horticulture, agriculture, applied biology, or plant breeding.
* At least 2 years of experience.
* Good command of English and Spanish.
