Role Overview
Energy & Commodities (E&C) trading involves buying, selling, and hedging these physical goods, often through derivative contracts like futures and options. Brokers in E&C facilitate transactions between buyers and sellers of energy and commodities, helping clients navigate the complex market dynamics and execute trades. They provide market insights, price transparency, and risk management solutions to participants in the energy and commodities markets, including producers, consumers, traders, and investors. Overall, E&C broking plays a crucial role in ensuring liquidity, price discovery, and efficient risk transfer in these markets, which are vital for global economic activities and industrial processes.
This is an entry level role into the world of Broking and we believe somebody either with high school or a degree academia would be best suited. We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic individual that can work autonomously and collaboratively in a small team and can think on their feet. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of highly experienced team and would be perfect for somebody looking to start their career in Financial Services. Experience in finance / financial services is not necessary but would be beneficial.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Promote TP ICAP Group.
2. Provide complete support to the brokers for the smooth running of the desk.
3. Ensure timely input of trades into trading systems.
4. Resolve any trade queries received internally and externally, and ensure any trade discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner.
5. Identify trade opportunities and calculate strategies.
6. Keep trade records up to date.
7. Update real-time manual / electronic whiteboards with market data.
8. Provide input on various projects for brokers and traders.
9. Provide trade details to brokers and traders on a daily basis.
10. Give live quotes to traders through the messaging systems.
11. Monitor markets and follow financial news and developments.
12. Understand the underlying products being traded and keep up to date with knowledge of new products/procedures.
13. Liaise with clients, (via telephone and face to face) to understand the business objectives of your clients as to provide a reliable and efficient broking service.
14. Develop new business with existing clients and on-board new clients following the correct process with the Client On-Boarding team.
Experience / Competences:
Essential
15. Ideally educated to a minimum of A-Levels.
16. Demonstrated interest and understanding in the financial markets and the economy.
17. Demonstrated interest in the Energy & Commodities markets.
18. Evidences professional and personal integrity at all times.
19. Hard working and willingness to learn.
20. Good communication skills (written and verbal).
21. Handles situations and problems effectively using own initiate.
