Development and Communication Associate (Fathomers)Posted on October 08, 2019Development and Communication AssociateFathomers seeks a dedicated Development and Communication Associate to support fundraising, marketing, and audience engagement strategies across all departments. This is an opportunity to play a key role in advancing the organization through mission-driven development work and to assist in the execution of a full range of communication materials, including print, electronic, website, and social media. The ideal candidate will be an energetic and committed team member who can take direction as well as propose new ideas, and will have a significant impact on the operations and external relations of a multi-disciplinary organization in the field of contemporary art.Primary ResponsibilitiesFundraising and DevelopmentAssist the Executive Director with all aspects of fundraising and pipeline development, including efforts to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors. Characteristic duties include :
Assisting in scheduling donor and prospect meetingsSupporting the planning and execution of donor cultivation events and field tripsTracking and processing donations, sending acknowledgement letters, and recording donor cultivation activities and follow-up stepsProducing or helping to produce collateral development-related materialsEnsuring donor acknowledgement in print and electronic materialsConducting proactive and reactive research as assignedCollaborate with all principal staff to develop and execute the League Convening, a private conference with presentations from key thinkers in a range of fields, including compiling and maintaining guest list, invitation printing, catering, mailings, and venue coordination.Complete special projects as assigned by EDMarketing and CommunicationWorking closely with the Director of Research and Communication, develop and execute communication materials in a wide range of contexts. Characteristic duties include :
Producing content for Fathomers’ website and email newsletterWriting and / or distributing press releasesCoordinating marketing and publicity efforts for Fathomers programs and eventsDevise and execute Fathomers’ social media strategy, and manage Facebook, Instagram, Vimeo, and YouTube channels, as well as the email account.Assist with photographic and audio documentation needed for press, program archives, and publications.Insist on accuracy, clarity, and conciseness in information and proofreading, and advocate for the highest standards of design and communication across Fathomers projects.Administrative / Additional SupportAttend staff meetings, other administrative meetings, and occasional programs and eventsAssist in schedule management and travel planning across departments.Share responsibilities of general office coordination as assigned by Director of Operations and / or other DirectorsQualificationsSuperior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsEagerness to work in a team environmentAbility to organize, prioritize, and meet critical deadlines;
work independently;
and solve problems creativelyAbility to exercise sound judgment, ethical decision-making, and reliable discretionTechnological savvy, with G-Suite proficiency and willingness to learn new applications2+ years experience in a relevant development or communication roleExperience in web design, project management software, and / or CRM systems desirableCompensationThis is a full-time position that requires occasional evening or weekend hours. The salary is commensurate with experience and includes a generous benefits package with employer-paid health insurance and paid time off for vacation, personal days, and holidays.
