Data Scientist in AI for Cardiology – Digital Health Unit (RE2)
Location: Barcelona, Spain. The position is within the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) Digital Health Unit, in collaboration with Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau. Overview Develop AI models for cardiology with emphasis on cardiac signal analysis, medical image analysis, biomarker integration, and generative AI approaches. Collaborate with clinical researchers and cardiologists to co-design and validate AI tools and contribute to product-ready healthcare applications. Ensure models are robust, explainable, and clinically relevant; publish and disseminate results in scientific and innovation forums. Key Duties Develop AI models for cardiology with emphasis on:
Analysis of cardiac signals using advanced signal processing methods Medical image analysis in cardiology Integration of biomarkers into predictive models Application of deep learning, transformers, foundational models, and generative AI approaches
Collaborate with clinical researchers and cardiologists to co-design and validate AI tools Contribute to the development of product-ready applications for use in healthcare settings Ensure models are robust, explainable, and clinically relevant Publish and disseminate results in scientific and innovation forums Requirements Education
Master's degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields PhD is welcome (plus), but not required
Essential Knowledge And Professional Experience
3 to 5 years hands-on experience in deep learning applied to biomedical data, with emphasis on deep-learning, transformers and foundational models Strong background in signal processing, particularly for biomedical signals such as cardiac data Proven expertise in medical image analysis, preferably in cardiology or related healthcare domains Solid programming skills (Python or similar) and use of deep learning libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow) Strong interest in developing healthcare applications with real clinical impact
Additional Knowledge And Professional Experience
Experience collaborating with clinical partners or working on healthcare datasets is an advantage Familiarity with biomarkers or multimodal data integration is desirable Fluency in English, Catalan, and Spanish
